# Hybrid DNS Setup: Delegating Subdomains Between Route 53 and Cloudflare 🌐

This guide walks you through a hybrid DNS configuration where your main domain is managed by one provider (e.g., Route 53) while delegating a subdomain to another (e.g., Cloudflare). You can also reverse this setup to suit your needs!

### **Scenario 1: Main Domain with Route 53, Subdomain with Cloudflare**

1️⃣ **Configure Route 53 as Your Primary DNS Provider**

* Set up or update your hosted zone for the main domain (e.g., `example.com`) in AWS Route 53.
* Ensure all required DNS records (A, CNAME, MX, etc.) for your main domain are correctly configured.

2️⃣ **Delegate the Subdomain to Cloudflare via Route 53**

* Create an NS (Nameserver) record in Route 53 for the subdomain (`sub.example.com`).
* Point this NS record to the Cloudflare nameservers for the subdomain. This allows Cloudflare to handle DNS queries for `sub.example.com`.

3️⃣ **Set Up Cloudflare to Manage Your Subdomain**

* Log in to Cloudflare and add the subdomain (`sub.example.com`) as a new site.
* Configure the necessary DNS records in Cloudflare for the subdomain.
